Stck.me Masterclass on Translating and Contemporising Tagore

In addition to being a platform for your blogs, poems, graphic novels, sketches, audio stories, articles, and more, we want to give our creators an opportunity to learn and grow through Stck.me Academy – a place of new ideas and education.

As part of this initiative, stck.me will be hosting its second Masterclass session on September 4 with Jashodhara Chakraborti.

Jashodhara Chakraborti is an author, translator, executive, and teacher. She has published two books for Young Adults and cut her teeth in translation with another adventure for Young Adults by acclaimed twentieth-century Bengali author, Hemendra Kumar Roy.

On stck.me, she translates Rabindranath Tagore’s first opera, “The Illusion Game.” She is also a TEDx speaker and a visiting lecturer at IIM Kozhikode where she teaches Storytelling for Business. Jashodhara is from IIM Calcutta, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, and Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. She lives in Kolkata and adores music and most animals.

In this masterclass, she will talk about her translation project, why she chose to do it, and how she re-imagined Tagore for a readership that would probably not ordinarily explore his work.
