Presenting the stck.me Interview Series, where, every week we speak to your favorite creators, and learn about their work and how they are using our platform to enhance their community.
On our twenty-seventh blog in this series, we speak to Riya Wagle, Writer, and Poet on stck.me.
Riya is an eighteen-year-old creator sailing through life who pens down her thoughts on paper as she goes, trying to give people an insight into her life through her poems. She also enjoys writing short stories.
In this interview series, we speak to her about her creative interests, what she majorly writes, her favorite genre when it comes to reading, listening, and looking for content on social media, and her experience with the platform, stck.me, and much more.
What was your biggest expectation from stck.me when you created your account?
As a writer, and creator, my biggest hope, let’s say, was getting to more people, and grabbing the attention of a wider audience than I already was. And the fact that I’m here today, answering these questions, gives me a sense of achievement and contentment. Which is what I’ve been looking for ever since I started posting my work on public platforms.
How helpful was stck.me in catering to the expectation?
Stck.me has honestly gone above and beyond my expectations. I joined very recently, so naturally, I wasn’t expecting to get featured and go trending so early-on in my journey with Stck. So yeah, Stck.me has more than catered to my expectations and hopes.
What do you majorly write about?
I don’t have a specific genre that I stick to, be it music, books, or my own writing. But if I were to still give a tag, or label, to the kind of things I write, it would be “slice of life”, because I write whatever my mood of the day says. I always say that there are two people in me that write, one’s me that writes what happens in her life, and the second’s my alter-ego who whips up scenarios that are absurd and have never ever happened to me in reality.
Tell us about some of your successful stck.me blogs? How did your readers react to it?
I’d call the blog/poem that got featured itself my most successful one because that was a milestone achievement. The poem is called “Let Me, Please.” which I posted in honor of Women’s Day.
It’s written from the depth of a woman’s heart, as she begs, and pleads with people around her not to cut her off her own life so early, so easily and absolutely without her consent. It subtly touches upon concepts of female foeticide, honor killing, and the suppression of her voice. It’s one of my best, deepest, and most real works to date, and it has the power to resonate with its audience, especially female readers.
With stck.me introducing new features with time, do you think that has contributed to the ease of creating content on the platform?
To be honest, I’m new here, so I haven’t explored enough. But, at the same time, I can confidently say that my experience with Stck.me has been better than any other public platform I’ve ever used thus far. And it’s like a breath of fresh air, that while on the usual creative platforms, the community interactions are near-zero, here they're booming. As a writer, it feels nice reading about what other fellow writers are up to.
Any suggestions you would like to give us as a team to focus more on?
Stck.me is a wonderful platform for writers and creators to what they want to bring to the plate. However, I feel that after a point, a writer has to have some way of knowing what’s working and what’s not, what is it that their readers are actually enjoying. If there might be a way to explore that interface, it’d prove to be awesome for all the creators on here.
What is your favorite genre when it comes to reading, listening, or looking for content on social media?
Broadly speaking, fiction is my absolute go-to.
In fiction though, I don’t stick to one specific genre, I like to butterfly around a lot. However, I do gravitate toward romance and mystery thrillers. I like reading things that keep me awake at night, thinking ‘what just happened?’. Or even those books that are now widely called ‘un-put-down-able’, it gives me a sense of immense satisfaction to have picked up a book and closed it in one sitting, without any interruptions or distractions.
